Description: This course is a hands-on class that investigates high-speed Local Area Networking Technologies and the environments in which they can be implemented. The course focuses on network design concepts and practices. Focus is also placed on several high-speed technology options for LAN environments, comparing how each handles key network performance criteria such as multi-media support, Quality of Service and security. The course also discusses the adoption and implementation of each network protocol, focusing on the selection of appropriate LAN technologies for a given environment. Throughout the course, students are encouraged to participate in hands-on demonstrations of each LAN protocol discussed in class. Note: Includes New Hands-On Networking Labs.

Audience: This course is for IT professionals who need to identify, design and implement the appropriate high-speed LAN technology to meet the required parameters and quality of service needs of their specific environment.

Prerequisites: Networking Fundamentals (TTTL01), TCP/IP Fundamentals (TTTL74), or equivalent experience.

Objectives:

  • Understand the concept of LAN Quality of Service
  • Identify critical LAN performance criteria
  • Identify a suitable LAN technology for a given network environment including:
